Default What does this go to?

I had to remove my tank on my RK to run some wires under it for a 12 volt port on the bars.

I set the tank on a rubber cradle on my work bench.

I finished the wiring, and put the tank back on, no problemo!

I went back to the work bench and found this 1/2 inch long, 3/4"to 7/8" piece of what I would call heater hose.

I didn't see it when I took the tank off. I can't find it anywhere in the service manual or parts manual. The Service rider at the Dealership didn't seem to recognize it and I can't think of any other project I have done on my workbench that would have this piece in it.

Has anybody seen this piece of rubber on their bikes mainly underneath the tank? maybe used as a bumper of some sort?

Mike

I'm guessing you got the bike used? That is a piece of automotive hose...like transmission line or something to that effect. Who knows what the PO had it on there for. It's not something that is OE.

Any reason you didn't just run the wires underneath the console? Or for that matter why did you even take the tank off completely? Plenty of room to do what needs to be done just removing the fore and aft bolts.

I figure it came off something else in my garage, just can't get a grasp of what it is.

As far as why I took the tank off...because the wiring belonged in the wire loom under the tank. That plastic box is there for a reason. I'm not smart enough to know that reason, so I layed it where the instructions for the accessory said to put it there.
