I have a 2015 FLHTK I was told that the cat less 2009 header would be a direct replacement so I bought a set of "'09 street glide factory exhaust takeoffs" from a guy online. I finally got time to do the swap and as I'm inspecting the 2009 header I see that it does not have the oxygen sensors near the foot board and has an extra threaded hole of some kind near the cylinder head.
So I'm guessing either the 2009 Street Glide exhaust is different or these are not off of a 2009. Either way, no go on making the swap.
Any suggestions on where to purchase an inexpensive set of cat less headers for this 2015 FLHTK?
Looking at the same, mine is a 2010 and I bought s set of 09 pipes last year, eventually will swap out cams and replace ECM with Thundermax & wide band sensors in the mean while, if I buy the bushings will the sensor wires be long enough to reach? Will the current module accept it with nothing other then the sensor relocation?
My understanding is the 09 pipe is a bastard. It's catless but has the old 18 mm o2 sensors near the head. The 2010 and newer have the 12 mm o2 located much farther downstream. From what I understand this is different o2 sensor all together and tells the ecm a different read than the old 18 mm mounted closer. So that being said you can use the 09 pipe and weld in 12 mm bungs in the same location as your stock pipe and plug off the 18 mm bungs. Should work.
