I just bought a 2015 Ultra Limited. Of course I'm looking into a stage 1, AC, Headers, Slip-ons. The dealer suggested the HD download or the SEPST. They will stand behind either.
After reading multiple posts I have some questions.
1. Is the stock and or $150 HD download really that lean? Not just opinionated, but have you compared files and have actual data to prove this? (not being and a$$, just want data to back up, not just opinions)
2. Does anyone have their stock map saved, and or a HD Stage 1 Download and done a compare in the PV? I would think this would show the difference.
3. I know FuelMoto has maps for the PV, and great customer service. How many maps are there for the SEPST, how do you get them? Is everyone just buying the SEPST and no cables and having the dealer or dyno guys do the download?
4. Does the PV or SEPST auto tune feature work better? Are they similar?
The PV screen is nice, but I have a laptop and hooking to the SEPST wouldn't be an issue if I needed to go that route.
The Sepst is good to use. You are going to get a whole mix of options on these questions. The thing with Sepst is buy the cables , software is free on the SE site. Sepst has an auto tune option where you connect the Sepst to the bike and record for tune for about 15 minutes bring it back and plug it back in to the laptop and apply the fixes you want downloaded to the ecm.
Just imo it SEPST has suited me well on my bikes with no issues.
Runs like a scalded dog.
Harley download waste been there done that in 2010. No comment on the Harley tuner I have not used one. I have compared fuel map's on a stock 14 Street Glide and a Fuel moto map on the PV. Yes stock map is leaner. You can look at some maps go to Dynojet load winpv and look at 14-15 map's. Fuel moto made many of those maps on Dynojet site.
We have 2 Limited's with stage one and PV2's. They run great and the PV is simple to use. Never used a Screamin Eagle tuner but have used TTS Master Tune and Thunder Max. I'm sold on the PV, plenty of power and about 45 mpg.
Good Luck
Thanks for the input so far. I am loving the bike what little time I've spent on it. It does have good pep, of course I traded in a 94 ultra with 98,000 on it so it was a huge jump. LOL
I'm looking over the software for both. They look very similar. One thing I've noticed is the PV software has a gear section. It includes gear ratios and a speedo calibration. I don't see any gear or speedo in the Screaming Eagle software. Anyone have any comment on that, am I over looking it?
1.) "they will stand behind"
a.) get that in writing- the dealer can't change the terms of the HD warranty...what happens if you go to Daytona or Sturgis?
2.) you are paying through the nose for dealer services.
Many of use spend far less or get much more.
If you have to use a shop, then your choices are limited...
Some of us have stage ones for under $500 ( well under), it depends on how much you are able to do and how much you know.
I would suggest that an option like FM over screamin' eagle, might give better results in terms of CS and a better option for the next owner if you want a tuner. I don;t use them, but FM have a great reputation.
I use nightrider.com xieds. and a $120 ness big sucker.

The HD stuff has to be EPA approved,so yeah,it's lean. I put a 1000 miles on my bikes as soon as possible. If it feels good, then i do what I want to my machine. Not interested in in warranty and having to give up 2 years of my life waiting for it to expire. I have aTTS,buddy has a power vision. Both great ,but his looks like more fun. Good luck.

As others have said I doubt you will ever get anything in writing from them. Again they can't change the warranty. Their reasoning makes sense to me. They make money off of warranty work so why would they deny it. They said if a HD auditor comes in and finds the tuner they can deny it and there's not much they can do, but in general that doesn't happen and they won't deny the warranty claim unless that happens. So yes it's a gamble, but odds are in your favor more if you buy from them. If I buy the SEPST odds are better they won't ask questions, if I install a PV then the odds are greater the individual dealers will deny certain warranty claims.
My real question is about tuning and if the tuners are worth the extra $.
Second question is, is one better than the other.
Thirdly (again not being an a$$ and I appreciate the opinions) I have heard only opinions on what people think and have yet to see an actual fuel map that shows the difference in a HD download and a "tuner" download.
I know if you have it dyno tuned they can do much more with a tuner, but if I don't want to pay to have it put on a dyno and tuned is it that big of a difference on a stage 1?
