2011 SG with 103"
I got the bike with 15k and had to do the compensator upgrade.
Now at 23k I've had to replace the lifters. On a good note, he said I should be good to go till around 50k. Then maybe a cam chain adjustment is all.
Still, with all this I don't think I'd ever own another jap bike. Something about a Harley.
Keep an eye on your wheel bearings as well. You are at that mark where mine and several of my buddies took a dump. There is always something but overall they are pretty reliable.
You're in for a rude surprise, lol. In any given 3 month period of the 18 months Ive owned it, my harley has had more issues than all my previous metric bikes combined over a 4 year period.
So far this month my radio screen went out, shifter linkage broke, and an electrical gremlin is in my taillight (running light doesnt work, tried new bulbs, still nothing). It's a neverending cycle

75,000 miles on my '99 and trouble free.
51,000 miles on my '08 and IPB at 40,000 and radio at 49,000. Wish my cars were this reliable.
I think it was the tensioners. And just an adjustment I believe. He said my year bike I shouldn't have to worry about them failing and causing my motor to explode..lol

They're self adjusting. Lifters are a service part too. I believe 30k they recommend replacement. My service manual is at home or I'd check.

Who is this "he" that told you to adjust the cam chain? Ask him the procedure? I'd love to know.
I think "he" was talking about checking the tensioners for wear. No adjustment.

I did all the service on my '09 SG up until I traded it in '13 with over 75K. I had a couple of problems but they were my own fault. It was a very reliable bike. Cam chain is self adjusting and I don't remember the service manual saying anything about lifters on any service intervals but I might have missed it. I just did the normal service stuff described in the manual. It ran great when I traded it. My 13 RG has a little over 22K on it with no issues with only normal service, basically just changing the oil. I don't say this to imply that you don't have any real issues, just don't lump all Harleys into high maintenance, lots of people ride lots of miles and never do anything but normal maintenance. Of course, I am knocking on wood as I type this.
