So. Aparently something in my TB broke and caused it to fail. They think possibly a piece of that bent my valve. But all is fixed and cost much less than expecting.
OOps . that reply was for another post. I love it when someone shares their experience on this forum and it's like you offend all these Harley owners who must think Harleys don't break. My bike broke down last weekend on a chapter ride. No throttle. Then find out no compression in front cyl. This bike is a stock 103 with slip ons and AC with SC tuner with 23k. I guess you get some good ones and you get some bad ones but just because I share my experience with my bad one is no reason to make fun of. My road captain said he had to replace his lifters on his RG at 23k. So keep it up with your " it must be his first Harley and crooked mechanic, and change blinker fluid and wheel bearings every tire change and so on...
What!!!!!!!! So your saying that if someone has a SE air cleaner they have to change lifters every 7.5k . Surely they mean engine mods like cams,pistons,ect...

...EBay stuff. You def have to be careful, you can buy the same stuff, or really really cheap junk. Shop by price only and you may get burned.
I've had 5 Harley's. My 07 RK chunked something in the primary at 7,000 miles, fixed under warranty, never acted up again. My 09 had the throttle body act up and it was repaired under warranty and never acted up again. Traded both back in at 30K. Dyna, zero problems, 2012 Limited zero and new 2015 Limited low only has 200 miles so far so...we'll see.
The 2014's did have the clutch master recall.
Man I love these things. I'd rather tow my Harley than ride another Honda(I've had 3 and 2 Suzukis, 2 Yamahas).
The wheel bearings are "more" of an issue since hd started using roller bearings vs timken tapered bearings. My 99 had the tapered bearings and I regreased them when I changed the tires. The new roller bearings have more failures compared to the timken. I have seen quite a few failures between 30 to 50 k miles. I will replace my front ones when i replace my front tire at around 20k. My preference, cheap insurance.
as for the lifters..the ride on a "pillow" of lubricant against the cams. The something about a bent valve? Usually, a hydraulic lifter failure is one that won't pump up. I have heard of gauling on poorly lubricate engines but nothing HD related. Maybe a bad oil pump or oil? Would be interested in hearing the symptoms and maybe previous history. Yes, all mechanical pieces can and will fail at some point but most times, there is more to the story...
Your bike spends to much time on the internet reading about make believe problems.
Many of us put a lot of miles on these bikes and never replace compensators ,lifters or have one single major issue with them.
My 2011 had 40K on it when It was totaled never had anything other than oil and lube changes. 2007 had 75K on it Cracked exhaust header at about 50K and was warrantied.
40K on current touring bike no issues and I know a lot of people with the same experiences.
Really dude. Wake up!!! They are not make believe problems. Why the f#$k would get one here and make up a bunch of **** about my bike. I'm the third owner when I bought by bike and bike was routinely serviced by the dealer by previous owners and also while I have owned the bike. And I ride my bike every day. I don't know what to tell ya about the lifters but I can tell you I'm not the only one that has experienced this problem. And my machine is plenty lubricated with amsoil. Oil pump problem, maybe I'm not sure I'm not the mechanic.
UPDATE: Lifters changed one weekend, the next weekend on a chapter ride TB failed. Took to the dealer and after replacing the TB found zero compression in front cyl. Tear down revealed bent valve. They think possibly something from the TB. picked bike up today and all seems great so we will see. If something fails in my motor again I think I'm gonna trade her in for another.
