Default Exhaust question

I recently traded up for a 2013 Road King - totally stock. I find that after the first 1K miles, that it's too quiet for me. I don't have the funds to do a proper stage 1, exhaust, and fuel manager so I've been searching Craig's list for used exhaust.
I found a set of CVO take offs from 3 different bikes (2009 Road Glide CVO, 2010 CVO Ultra Classic and another set off a 2015 CVO Road Glide).
Will any of these fit my RK and will they sound any different than the stock mufflers on there now?
(with a 3/4 face helmet, I can barely hear my mufflers when throttling up if I'm riding with others- it's kind of weird).

I believe all of the listed will fit, but they probably won't give the sound you are looking for. I tried it myself, while the CVO pipes were better than the stock it wasn't the "Harley" sound. However, you could pull out the baffles or at least remove the catalytic converter from your head pipe, you can find catless headpipes on here for around $100 if you don't want to do it yourself.

I ended up with Klock Werks super savers and a decatted headpipe and am pretty happy with the sound, not the loudest but it will bark pretty good when I get on the throttle.

I purchased a set of RC components slip ons on this forum. I am very happy with the sound. If I end up doing a full stage 1 then I am half way there, because there are many options for headpipes in the touring arena.

Thanks guys- I'll keep looking or perhaps drill a few holes in the baffles for now

cheap stage 1:

remove the cat or buy a decatted header off ebay= $150
( stay with your stock mufflers)

ness big sucker- ebay from easternpc = $120

xieds, nightrider.com = $120

under $400 for a stage 1, some of these things you can find used on the forum classifieds...

you will have a louder exhaust note and pick up 7 to 10 reliable horsepower, retaining MPG

Get rid of the cat first, it needs to go regardless of which way you go. Your stock mufflers are a higher flow because of the cat. You may be pleasantly surprised with the sound of your stock mufflers once the cat is removed. You can run that way for a while and then add slipons later if you so desire. I ran 4 inch Rhinehart's for 5 years on my 2010 Ultra and recently went back to my stock mufflers. I'm really happy with the sound since the cat has been removed. Before the cat was removed even the Rhinehart's didn't sound that great.

I'd grab a set of the CVO takeoffs. Add a set of Fullsac baffles and you will have something that works very, very well. The cat is not costing you any power but it retains the heat and quietens the exhaust.

I'm glad you brought this option up. I was doing some reading and surfing and came across a couple of YouTube vids that should baffle removal. I've heard bangers without baffles and I didn't like the sound. The concept to replacing the stock baffle with something like Fullsac is pretty ideal cost and looks wise.
My question for those that care to comment is this.. If I replace my stock baffles with a 2" or 2.25" replacement like Fullsac, will I need to get an ECM flash or will I be good for the rest of the season?
On it goes....

What happens if I keep my stock header pipes, replace the baffles, and do the rest of your suggested mods?
I'm curious because my plan is to do cams, Bassein road rage 2:1, breather, tuner, and dyna in the off season. I'm just looking for a little louder exhaust note now.
What do you think...
