Default Fual gauge problem

Fuel gauge was working fine yesterday morning. Had about 1/2 tank of gas. Filled it up before I went riding and it stayed stuck on "full" for the entire day. Also, topped it off again before I headed home and it's still stuck on full. Any ideas???

(Maybe I'm just getting great gas mileage)

hmmm ... I don't think it's the later. I have the same problem but in my F150, after about 5 fillups it began working fine again. ????

I had the same problem on my ’05 Heritage. I wasn’t patient enough to wait and see if it would fix itself. I took it into the deal. They ended up replacing it. Lucky for me it was still under warranty.

The float for the sending unit is either getting stuck, or the sweep/resistor contact in the sending unit is messing up. I very rarely see a bad guage, however, it also happens.

Mine shows full until I have about 1 gallon left, then falls to Half Full in a second. It did stick on me once, but like the others said it fixed itself in a tank or two.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll wait and see if it fixes itself. If not I'll just keep an eye on the trip odometer.

no mine does it all the time. it generally does what berettag says. when i finally got about 180 miles on the tank it will drop from full to almost empty. so now i just reset the trip everytime i get gas. I have notice that the fuel light comes on when you got about .4 gallons left. you got about 10 - 11 miles to go....
