I have a grasshopper, and it works fine with the stock seat. Plenty of adjustment in the mount, and it can be mounted backwards, to give more options for distance. It is an easy in and out, and as another said, fits easily in the bags.

I don't use it anymore though, as I purchased a Mustang solo with rider back rest. But if I ever put the stock seat back on, I will use it again.

DJ, The Grasshopper isn't the most attractive model out there, and lacks in adjustments. But for the money it works great and does the job. The foam is very thick so it conforms to your back well, the metal post is a bit on the thin side and will flex if you lean into it hard. It removes in a second, just pull it out. You could drill a hole and install a bolt if you want it permanently mounted. I have a lot of lower back pain, and it keeps me from slumping, and supports the lower back, I like mine a lot. Go to ebay vs. the dealer website, they are cheaper there for some reason. If you have the 2-pc. seat, make sure you get the right one, most of the ones listed are for the 1-pc seat with the slit in it.

I have the Grasshopper on my Glide . I have had no problems. At 265 lbs. Not fat either I feel it works great for the price. To me the quality is fine no issues. Easy to install ,as well as remove. I have had no flex issues with it either. Just returned from a 1000 mile trip and worked great.
Just my $.02

I had a grasshopper on my other bike. It worked fine and while not as stiff as the Std Harley which I have on this bike, it worked fine and the slight give when I leaned back on the grasshopper was not even noticeable until I got the Std Harley which is made of two tubes and is stiff. The Grasshopper used a bend flat bar and while not flexible in the hand, it gives slightly when your weight is against it.

If I had the grasshopper on this bike, I'd not replace it. It is just that I got a deal from the dealer's salesman on a used Std Harley backrest when I bought the bike. (He was upgrading to an adjustable on his own bike and threw the Std backrest and bracket off his Road Glide in to help clinch the sale that day.)

Get a good woman. Works as a backrest, can massage your back if it gets sore, will fit any bike, and has other functions not relevant to this thread.

Just like other parts - cheap ones aren't good and good ones aren't cheap.

You'll be satisfied with the grasshopper.
I got one for my '07 RKC and it's good for the cost and comfortable for the cost too.
Oh, and you got yours for less than mine.... good job.

Someone earlier in the thread posted a link to one on eBay and I noticed it was cheaper. I called them to confirm which seat I needed (and I'm glad I did, as I need the low profile one, not the pillow top one). I offered to pay him the eBay price over the phone to save him the fees and he happily accepted, so it was $80 shipped. It should be here Tuesday, if I recall correctly.

This is my preferred option as well but until one of those becomes available, the grasshopper will have to do.

Yes, and I love it. Cheapest price I found when looking was Eastern Performance's ebay store. It was even cheaper than their regular website store.
