Replacing cowbells with rubber gators?
Has anyone done this yet? I've used the gators fork boots on all my bikes, but this is my first touring bike (12 SG). Curious how it would look and what size I would need?
41mm
some riders used cut down gators on the 38mm fx forks.
looked ok, depending on the style of the bike- the other mods.
on a bagger, the styling cues carry from 1949 Hydraglide- ain;t broke.
but maybe your eye sees something else.
do what appeals to you.

I've done it. I bought them off Amazon.com. 41mm boots. I'm eventually installing a fork brace and the cow bells had to come off. You have to completely remove the forks out of the triple trees. Not a super tough job but you need the big wrench for the upper fork caps.

Thanks! I like them. I think I got them for $100 or a little more, I forget. I had the front end apart to put monotubes in. I would bet you would have to pull the forks to get the cow bells off to begin with. I'd have to look in the service manual to be certain. I don't think they would fit past the fender and caliper mounts.
I really like those ness parts but for 225, I had to pass when installing my chrome lowers. To me, it wouldn't be worth the time to install unless I was doing the lower legs or had the tubes out for some other reason.
