that may be, but the owner's manual does specify that at a given temperature range, 60wt oil is good to go.

Hey dude, nobody is asking you to trust anybody. I could not find the word "trust" anywhere in my previous narrative. You are free to do anything you wish or to customize in any fashion you desire. I was merely stating the obvious because running a 60 wt. oil in his cool climate at start-up time could prove to be detrimental to the engines bearings and cylinder bore over time.
