I have found a couple threads on this but not a clear answer. To remove fork cans can I just slide forks down and take off can? Is there a pinch bolt that secures can to fork? Thanks for the help
Not sure if you mean the fork covers, Beer Cans, cowbells, or something else.
If it is the fork covers, beer cans... 2 little bolts at the top. The little holes you see are threaded.
Another tip when you ask a question let us know what year and model.
Good Luck
1. Remove whatever fairing is in the way of the Fork cap bolts.
2. Remove the brake calipers (10mm/12 point) and hang them on the engine guard with zip ties.
3. Remove the 36mm (or something) fork cap bolts.
4. Loosen the two pinch bolts.
5. Using two people, slide the fork/fender/wheel/assembly etc out of the triple tree.
6. Replace your cow bells. (3/8?)
7. Using two people, slide the whole fork/fender/wheel etc back into the triple tree.
8. Reassemble.
Thanks for all the help its exactly what I needed. Im powder coating my fork cans and fairing skirt gloss black while leaving my lowers chrome. Im trying break up the chrome allittle and I have seen a few bike likes this and really like it.
