Fuel gauge question...?
How does fuel gauge on O2 RoadKing work? Are their wires under the cap that says Warning " Do not twist? Can that cap that has the fuel gauge in it be pulled out of tank to check to see if it is connected? If it doesn't seem to be working correctly, how do you check it.If someone twist the cap with the fuel guage in it, willthat actiondamage the guage? Ifilled the tank and drove 100 miles and the guage didn't seem to move from full.I know you can just set the tripometer and just use that, but would like the fuel guage to function proplerly.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Theres a few wires connected to the bottom ofthe gaugeand it seats into the tank in a rubber gasket. If you wish to remove it, gently wiggle it out of the opening but don't twist it. There's a resistance test that will determine if it is working properly that is used to set the float height for proper operation for accuracy.
Quite often the float assembly gets hung up on all theinternals inside the tank and will shake loose in a few tankfulls. If it is under warrantee, let the dealer fix it. They can remove a bit of the end of the rod that the float is on so it doesn't hang up.

Sometimes the float level is set wrong, you do want to have it looked at if you are not comfortable doing it yourself.sounds to me like yours is set a little low.Good Luck
I carefully pulled the fuel gage cap upward and a white plastic "something" with wires attached to the bottom would not come up out of the tank far enough to see inside tank. Does the entire unit come ou tand wht do you look for?
