Default Rush Big Louies / True Duals Question

Not sure if I should put this in the Rushmore section or here...just purchased a '15 FLHTK w/ the 103" H.O. motor. The bike runs incredibly in it's stock configuration. Hell, the heat is non-existent as compared to the 96" Ultra I traded in.

The first thing I noticed was clearly the stock sound is not what William Harley and Arthur Davidson had in mind when they founded this company in 1903. Therefore, I managed to get the dealer to throw in a set of Rush True Duals head pipes, 4" Big Louies w/ the 2.5" baffles and SE Air Cleaner w/backing plate setup. I can't afford a tuner at the moment but the first $499 I find in my pocket is headed straight to Little Chute, Wisconson for a PV-2. I bought my previous Stage 1 setup from Fuel Moto and was blown away by their service and customer aftercare. FM is clearly a company that deserves my hard earned $$$ and I'll continue to do business w/ them and send friends and family their way.

Not wanting to further lean out my motor, I installed the Big Louies on the stock head pipes and will store the true duals and air cleaner until a tuner can be had. On a side note, the Big Louies sound great...much better than stock on the stock head pipe w/ cat.

My question is what could I expect if I installed the true dual headpipes w/ the Big Louies and left the hi-flow air cleaner in the box until I could get a tuner? Am I looking at overly lean condition? Can the stock ECM adjust? Unacceptable throttle response w/ no low end torque?

It may not be until winter before I can afford a tuner and would love to take advantage of the true duals asap. I won't however, risk damaging my motor.

For those of you in the know, what say you?

Um - you have a tuner - your PV-2. Call Fuel Moto and ask them to send you a map for your combo.

I would leave everything in their boxes until you can afford a tuner, then do the conversion properly. There is a lot of misinformation around on the affect of making changes and what we can get away with - best to do it right!

I Hear Ya GR....as Much As I Sit Here Staring At The Headpipes And AC....Knowing How Sweet It Will All Sound When Done, The Last Thing I Want To Do Is Compromise My Motor In Any Way.

Its A Whole Lot Of Suck Knowing That I Probably Wont Have Funds For A Tuner Until Winter. Here In The Cold a** State Of New Hampshire That Means Waiting Until After The Road Salt Is Cleaned Up Before Riding.....Typically Late April OR May.....Damn!

If I were you I would install the headers as well. I would be afraid the cat in the stock header would blue the Rush mufflers due to the extra heat it produces. Leave the intake stock until you get a tuner.

Something you might want to consider is the size of your baffle. When I did my build (noted in my sig), I talked to FM, Drago and V&H and the consensus was no baffle larger than 2". Unless you have a cat, you will be low on back pressure and will lose torque that you will feel with the butt dyno.
