Default Up, Down, Forward or Back?

I'm new to having a rider backrest and can't decide on a sweet spot position. It's a Mustang backrest that fits into the seat receptacle.
It can be moved up or down and has a thumb screw to move it forward or back.
I'd like to hear what position most riders prefer their backrest.

I couldn't get comfortable on mine when I installed it. I eventually went all the way down and a couple of turns on the screw then just had to go out and ride as much as possible and my back got used to it and now I'm comfy. I think the backrest pad needs to get broke in to where it's not putting pressure in one small spot on your back.

Yes, that's how I feel now. I've even considered getting it modified from Mean City Cycles with Memory foam. Think that would be a good idea?
