RE: How to get chrome cleaner off flat black motor parts

I had the same problem youv'e described. Only after several soap and water scrubings has the marking left by the chrome cleaner started to fade. I tried various cleaners to no avail. I don't want to go at it with anything too harsh for fear of permenently marring the engine paint. Since it happened I've been using "Never Dull wadding polish" to clean the chrome with no ill effect on the engine paint.

Thanks for the info. I used to paint houses and the idea about alcohol makes sense cuz I used denatured alcohol to clean Oops from metal work or roofing metals. I guess I will try the other chrome polish, but Mothers is so good!

There is a product in an aerosol can called Pig Spit. Just spray it on the black wrinkle paint and the white is gone. If you get it on the chrome, just wipe it off with a clean rag
