Default Self Adjusting Primary Chain

I am thinking about purchasing a self adjusting primary chain tensioner. Not sure about the exact name. This is a device that auto-adjust the primary chain which eliminates manually adjusting the chain during routine service intervals. Anyone use this type of device. Pros?
Cons?
Suggestions on brand?

Everybody who owns a 06 dyna or 07 harley touring model uses them, it comes on those when you buy them. You can buy the same one from harley for I think 99.00. easy to install and seems to work great. Beats trying to keep the chain in proper adjustment.

My first project was to install Hayden's M6 chain tensioner. Easy install and it works well. Click>>>HERE<<<

You may be talking about the HB 125 which is a better unit than the hayden M6 in the respect that it has ahydraulic (oil) damper on it besides the spring, it eliminates the bounce of the spring unit alone. The hayden has been known to break springs on ocasion also.
Here's a link to the explination of the unit.

Here's installation instructions and a video also.

I used the M6 in my Road King for 8 years never had a problem with it. 07 Street Glide comes with Harleys second version. They changed the ratchet teeth and the springs to eliminate the problem over tightening. Either way its great to not have to adjust the chain every service. wait till you have a couple thousand on the clock so that the chain is pre streched then the auto adjuster will last much longer.

IMO, they are an unnecessary luxury. I have only "had" to adjust my primary chain once in 64k miles. You gotta pull the inspection cover to pour the oil in, anyway, it really isn't hard to poke a finger in and check the chain. Also, the auto tensioners are not a set, forget and never think about it again unit....The pad on them has to wear out sometime. With all that said, if I had to have one, I'd get an aftermarket one. The HD one is know to ratchet up and have the chain running tighter than a banjo spring. This causes excess heat and wear.

I installed one last year and love it. My transmission shifts smoother, with less of a 'clunk' and I have a easier time finding neutral now. I purchased mine at J&P but have seen them for less on the Internetas ususal [:@].

If it were up to me, I would say go for it.
