I've had a Haydan M6 and the HB 125 over the years on different bikes. I returned the HB125 after a few hundred miles (kept the chain WAY to tight). The M6 works well and has been around for many years. Or spend 5 mins every 5000 mile to check and adjust your primary...really no big deal.

thanks for the suggestions guys. I generally check my primary chain at every service interval anyhow, 5K miles or whenever i change the engine oil. I just replaced the stator and voltage regulator and got curious on the auto adjuster. It is definatley no big deal to chech and/or adjust the chain manually, but I was hoping for residual effects such as better shifting, less wear on the nylon idler shoe, less wear/tear on the chain, etc. I didnt know if keeping the chain at a 'optimum' tightness all the time would really make that big of a difference. But for 100$ I think its worth a purchase after i get the stator/vr paid for.
Now to get the clutch adjusted tonight. Got late on me last night after i got the bike back together. I found a good 'layman' way to adjust the clutch. the service manual way has 'a lot to be desired".

IMO, they are an unnecessary luxury. I have only "had" to adjust my primary chain once in 64k miles. You gotta pull the inspection cover to pour the oil in, anyway, it really isn't hard to poke a finger in and check the chain. Also, the auto tensioners are not a set, forget and never think about it again unit....The pad on them has to wear out sometime. With all that said, if I had to have one, I'd get an aftermarket one. The HD one is know to ratchet up and have the chain running tighter than a banjo spring. This causes excess heat and wear.
My thoughts exactly......count me out. The original seem automatic enough for me.....50,000 miles before it needed tightened. Geeze.....

What'snext.....automatic dimmer for the headlight when an oncoming motorists comes in your direction?

I don't know about the after market auto tensioner's but thestock HDoneon my 07 Ultra rattles like crazy and even sounds like the chain is hitting the gear housing. Also, neutral is almost non existent. The manual style tensioner worked just fine for me on my 06 Ultra and didn't make all this noise and rattles that the auto does. If it's working leave it alone, hear that HD. Now the chain sounds like its very slack and will require complete removal of the housing to check it's condition. Where once you only had to pull an inspection cover, which the new ones don't have. Way to go HD, like the manual adjusters were really causing problems and it was a real big hastle to adjust them.

If you just have to have one I would go with M6 over the HB125...had em both and the M6 was much more accurate. The HB125 made my chain sing like a scalded cat.
Just my opinion...for what it's worth.
