I have even noticing more vibration while engine braking and checked out my front motor mount. I'm not sure if it's bad or not, but the bottom rubber part can spin freely. The bolt and nut are properly torqued. Is the motor mount 2 pieces, or did mine separate?
If I need to replace it, I wanted to get opinions on the drag specialties mount. It's only $20 compared to $70 ish for an HD one. Is the HD one that much better?
A buddy of mine just had a front motor mount crack in half, lots of vibration. He went to Harley and bought a new one for around that same price, looked at it and it said made in China, so he returned it and purchased one on line that was made in America said it was $15 more. I am sure you can find several that are made in China a lot cheaper than the harley rice.
I am well pleased with the STA-BO motor mount, it is made of urethane and isn't harmed by oil. The only part of a proper motor mount able to rotate is the center bolt when the nut is loose or off. The freely rotating bolt indicates the engine and frame parts are properly aligned and there is no side load on the mount. The STA-BO instructions stress the importance of this check to ensure minimum vibration. The Harley manual also says there should be no side load but I don't remember as much stress being put on the point. I have had mine for about 4 years (about 10,000 miles a year) and it looks as good as new.
STA-BO also sells a swing arm bushing and pivot shaft kit. The motor mount can be purchased separately but the last time I checked the swing arm kit could NOT be purchased without the engine mount.

The rubber collar or urethane for the upgraded mounts should not be spinning, is what dampens the vibration with the motor weight resting on it. Post a picture and you should get an answer pretty quick,
