My experience with riding bikes and other's riding, the need for speed goes up proportionally with the added ponies from modifications. I guarantee when someone does a mod for power, they're typically going to run it harder/faster which is going to decrease MPG's. True, it would be nice to get consistently 40-45+ MPG but if that was a big issue to me, I'd be riding a Vespa!

I had a friend tell me "I bet you wish you could ride the bike more for work" since gas prices have gone up and continue to do so. I told him no more mileage than the bike got and having to use premium versus the cage @ 28 MPGusing regular, it really wouldn't save me much money. I travel a lot for my company and they have a policy of 'no motorcycles' on company business'; this sucks but, in my position, appearance is highly regarded. If I ever retire or change jobs (NOT likely!), I'm going to make sure wherever I go to work, it'll be cool riding up in full leathers and a new pony tail! haha....

I had a friends 2003 Ultra, stock 88"in the garage for 6 months and just had to ride it from time, you know to keep his battery up and all, and it got 35 mpg no matter how I rode. We have a 2000 FLHP EFI, purchased new never used in service, it always got 40 to 45 MPG on the 88" stock motor. Had it upgraded to 95" with cams, hi flow air filter and Samson exhaust at 55k miles, the mileage dropped to 30mpg. Now I was ENJOYING the new upgardes but still 30, It has 60K miles now and has settled back to 40mpg. Have I got over the new feel and slowed down or has the motor completely broke in? Anyway it is in for for service and getting a PCIII installed, Iasked them to dial it in for fuel economy versus HP. Thanks to Bryan TTM for the information about CycleDyne in Ft Worth. He was right I am inpressed with those guys, if they keep FWPD bikes running blowing and going, they know what they are doing.

i have mods on my 07 SG 103 kit 10.5-1 pistons, CNC ported Heads, (had SE 260 cams) getting woods TW-400, had not been dyno tuned. and rode 250 miles the other day and got 38.7 MPG riding at 60 mph. Usually i ride to work and around town , as i live out in the country 10 miles i would get about 30 MPG.
we will have to see i pick it up again from the dealer tomorrow after changing cams and dyno tuning. along with a long list of other warranty , and up grade items.

I had it put on a Dyno and fine tuned, it runs a little betterbut that did not help fuel MPG at all. can anyone shed some light on this so maybe myself or my tuner can have some direction
Did you have it tuned because of fuel mileage or was it running bad to begin with.
Did your tuner change any jets or the needle/needle position?
Maybe the carb is set up fat?Have you checked the plugs?
Maybe the carb could be leaned up a little?
