I was running 4" Jackpots and switched to a "stock" catless head pipe. I didn't notice much more "loudness" at all! Switched to the competition baffles and it sounds pretty good to me, but the sound is totally subjective. If you really want to hear what your bike sounds like, get a buddy to ride it and listen to what it sounds like coming towards you and going away.

I have v&h power duals with rc components mufflers and I love the sound, nice low Rumble at idle and cruising but screams when you open it up. Definitely not quiet though, but not near as loud as straight pipes or something like the v&h big radius. Does get loud after 2-3 hours though, but I don't mind it.

I have to disagree with you there - I put a FM 2-1-2 and V&H 4" mufflers on my RK and immediately felt a 'flat spot' from off-idle to about 2500 rpm. I added BCT quiet baffles upstream and got it back. Maybe you blow thru that RPM range and don't notice, but I ride like the old man that I am, and it was very apparent each way...

Safety Man is dead on. The true duals didn't hurt your 6th gear. It's the gearing on the 07&08 models that made 6th gear a turd. I changed from true duals on my 08 to a D&D FatCat and with a full tune 6th gear was still a turd.

I ran Freedom Performance duals with the RC slip ons and they sounded awesome. To me they weren't overbearing at all. WOT they would get pretty loud though.

With 80HP and 100ft pounds of torque, sixth gear is just fine now. I run it down to 60MPH and the bike does not care. That being said the problem with sixth went away after I went back to the stock head pipe and just put a set of slipons on so I stand by it does make a difference. It sure as heck did on my bike. I still have the dyno sheet around here somewhere from installing the true duals and attempting to tune them. The stage one performance was dismal on my bike. 63HP and 72ft lbs of torque or something like that. I have to dig the sheet up. I went to the FM jackpots with the stock headpipe and that combination worked just fine. If I recall correctly that moved me to 68HP and 78ft lbs torque or something like that. Its been a few years since I had that setup.

Hey bud if it worked for you its all good. I had both duals and 2/1 and she was still a turd.

Yeah lot of guys jumped ship on the 07s. They were not all that great without a bunch of work. I'll agree with you here. I put a SE 103 in with a little head work and a small compression bump to solve the 07 woes. I have been mostly happy with the bike since.

Ha I went with a 103 myself. It just happened to come with a new bike!!!! Haven't regretted the change at all. Added cams and changed the gearing just a little. Waiting on a dyno tune to dial it all in.
