I have Rinehart true duals on my 06 RK. I just put Big City Thunder QQ baffles and so far I am very pleased with the sound. It seems like it smoothed out the ride as well.

Granted this is the first step of a few changes coming when winter hits, but small steps

Appreciate all the responses! I think I'm gonna go with the new RC component power max 2-1-2 header. This should compliment the slip ons well. Other option was Rinehart Slimline duals....virtually the same as the new RC.

I bought a new '14 FLHTK in September '13, just after they hit the showrooms. The dealer had already installed RCX 4" slip-ons, keeping the stock headers on the bike. I was happy with the sound and performance. However, I was not happy with the fit between the stock header heat shields and the slip-ons.

So about 6 months ago, I decided to switch to the RC Components PowerMax headers, not chasing performance, but rather a smoother fit between the header and muffler. I kept the slip-ons, and they fit well against the RC headers and heat shield. No more gaps. I used a V&H FP3 to dial them in, and the modest power gain was a plus.

The downside is, however, is that I drag the bottom pipe heat shield when making a tight right turn. Initially thought I was dragging the floorboard, but on closer inspection, it is the bottom of the heat shield. So, I get heat shield drag before the floorboard drags on the right side.

Exactly the setup I'm thinking. How was the sound variable comparing to the slip ons only?

Thanks!!

Do you remember a huge change in sound going to power max headers?

Still confused and deciding. There's so many different variations of headers and slip ons...it's nauseating.

I would like to ditch the heat and maybe even feel some better throttle response.
