You can try using a little upward force on the seat and maybe it will allow you to remove the screw?? A little lube ??

If this works you can feed a wire through the hole and fix the new nut to the wire and pull it up then snap the clip on.

If you cannot remove the seat screw then you might be able to get to it without removing the tire but you will have to lift it up and maybe even remove the shocks to allow more room.

Good luck man.

Default seat bolt spinning

I have a set of really long reach angled needle nose pliers that let me reach up under the fender while sitting on the ground. They're Craftsman but I imagine you can get them just about anywhere. That's what I use to install seat bolt backing nut and clip.

Hopefully the stamped detent isn't stripped out in the fender. if it is you'll be messing with this every time you remove the seat. Might need some JB weld under the fender to hold the nut in place.

Same thing happened to me. There is an "E" clip that holds the plastic nut in place in the fender. Hold some upward pressure and turn it till the tab in the nut lines up with the notch in the fender. You should be able to get it out holding the pressure while you loosen the screw. Down side is when you get it out, the nut will fall out. I used some mechanics wire to fish it back up so I could put a new clip on.

yes that screw doesn't need locktite, just a star washer - never had one fall off

I had someone ruin the detent in the fender itself. I'm gonna install an aluminum rivnut if I can.

I used a 1/4 - 20 well nut that fit snugly into the hole in the fender. I wasn't able to use the factory nut because the hole in the fender was deformed and enlarged. It doesn't require much torque to tighten the seat bolt. It's been working for years now without a problem. A cheap & easy repair. I think I picked up the well nut from Home Depot.
