Hydraulic clutch conversion on 2012 Ultra
Bars:
Clutch Master Cylinder PN 36700056B list $335, discount $277 - eBay $58 for me.
Stock length hydraulic line PN 37200024 list $152.50, discount $126.50 - eBay $20
Crush washer (2) PN 41751-06A list $1.50
Clutch switch PN 71699-07 list $27, discount $22.50 - this is necessary because the hydraulic clutch lever is mechanically opposite of the cable clutch lever. Stock, the clutch switch is only engaged when the lever is pulled in. The hydraulic lever engages the switch all the time, except when it's pulled in. According to a post on here, the cruise won't work, the security light stays lit, and the 6th gear indicator won't work if you don't swap this switch.
Clutch side:
non-adjustable assembly PN 37000111 list $43, discount $36 - you have to remove one snap ring to remove the adjustable part of the cable clutch, the new part adds a bearing to the assembly, and removes the ability to adjust it.
You may want to replace your Derby cover gasket, but I didn't.
I also left the cover off until it was bled, so I could see the >.080" of travel on my dial indicator.
Transmission side:
Gasket PN 36805-06 list $5.50, discount $4.50 (may reuse)
Slave cylinder PN 37200023 list $163.5, discount $136 - comes with o-ring and bleeder screw. Need three PN 4705 screws $1.50 to bolt the slave to the new plate. I also used a Russell 639540 Speed Bleeder to make it really easy to bleed.
Inner plate PN 25700178 list $56, discount $46.50
Outer cover PN 25700179 list $91.50, discount $76 - I was able to reuse all six screws from the OEM setup.
Clutch rod PN 37000113 list $5.50, discount $4.50 - you pull the oil slinger assy, and slide this in. I put gear oil on it first, then the inner plate/slave cylinder slides right in place.
Overall pretty easy job. The savings on the first two items made it about half price for me. I also bought a master cylinder rebuild kit PN 37200096A list $75 to incorporate the changes with recall 0165 in April 2015.
Please ask questions, and I'll try to answer.
John

I have a 2012 Harley FLHTK that I have owned since new and planning on keeping the bike for sometime yet. I have been wanting to do the same conversion you did on your bike. Now that you have had some time with the hydraulic clutch, would you still recommend the upgrade? Rather an expensive upgrade for an 8 year old bike but like I said I plan on keeping it for a while yet. Looking forward to your comments!
