So, engaging the clutch and taking off...I feel a clunk in my left side foot board.
05 Ultra, 88, 37K on the clock.
I've ruled out the compensator (tell me if I'm wrong) since I have no issue starting it, no noise and no issues shutting it off.
I believe it to be either the clutch adjustment on the primary or possibly the primary chain adjustment.
Motor is running fine, I'm about 2K on all three fluids being changed and it is shifting just fine, or as fine as an HD will shift.
I just don't feel like the engagement is smooth. There are no signs of slipping, if I lug it a little and pour on the throttle in 3, 4 and 5...it doesn't race up (I don't make it a habit of lugging then hitting the throttle, I'm aware of it not being good for the bike)
Am I going down the right path to check the primary adjustment and chain adjustment?
Mike, I haven't noticed sloppy downshifts but I do get a bit of surging here and there. I'll look at the chain adjustment.
I don't feel the "clunk" when it neutral, thanks!
I'll check the board bolts and jiffy... when you say worn pads, as in brake pads?
