I was cleaning this 03 egc and found this unplugged. I plugged it back together and then I went to breakfast the cruise would NOT work. I stopped and unplugged it and everything went back to working. Any ideas?
the switch is busted or out of adjustment ( or wiring, check a wiring diagram to confirm the correct wires are on there)
someone before you did a roadside repair and never bothered to fix it correctly.
for safety and convenience I'd look at fixing that

Thank you Mike. I figured as much, but this is my first bagger and fist cruise control so I thought I'd ask. I'll order the maint. Manual and get it happening correctly. Thanks again!
it is part of the throttle cable, it is called a roll off switch. It makes it shut off the cruise when you roll the throttle forward. If the adjustment is off, or the switch is bad on the road side you can unplug it , and cruise will work again, but you can't roll the throttle grip forward anymore to shut the cruise off.
The brakes , and dash switch , and clutch will still shut the cruise off though.

You nailed it. That is exactly what is happening. I don't find the cable listed anywhere on the online parts finder I was turned on to in above post but I will find out Tuesday when I go to the dealer. You guys are great, thanks
I compared the new switch to the old one: the new one has a small foam disc between the 2 metal discs that the wires are connected to. When you roll off the throttle it squeezes the foam to make the 2 discs touch, to cancel the cruise. I put 3 very small dab of silicone on one disc and let it dry, then put ohm meter on the plug tabs and squeezed the cable. It worked. Hanging on wall for someday, if needed
