ok what am i doing wrong then. I removed the saddlebag bracket the first time only to release the strap. After that i just use the the screw to release the strap. Why do i have to do it every time?

After you get it off throw it in the drawer/box with all the rest of the take off junk you will never use again.

Grab strap = PITA.....I have 4 from various models...1st thing to go!!

Mine is still on the bike. It is a pain. Not sure how safe it is for the passenger anyways, that is why I got a backrest.Besides, as fat as I am, I am sure I cover it up when I ride and the wife couldn't 'grab' it unless she lifted my fat @ss off it first.I guess I will just take it off the next time I have the seat off. But, in hindsight, it would make the seat a PITA for a theif to steal, not that anyone would want my stock seat.

i second this. after putting on my detachable sissy bar stuff i just left it off. much easier to get under the seat now.

I took care of mine with a knife and left the bracket on as a spacer for the bag mounts.

Mine's coming off when I do the bracket mounts this weekend. As mentioned, it's a PITA and my wife doesn't ride, so I don't care if it's on there or not. Don't know what WTH I was thinking when I bolted it back on when I put the Sundowner on,
