For those of us that are "MMI" (Mildly Mechanically Inclined), how difficult are these to install? time to install? tips and tricks for best installation? Thanks in advance.

I'd like to know what you think of them after some testing.
Unless you are really heavy, you may regret ordering the Heavy Duty. The HD are a LOT stiffer than the standard & are only required for really loaded bikes.
I have the HD on mine and I like them; though I have nothing to compare them to. They are a bit firm riding solo, but no adjustment needed when I go 2up.
They're real easy to install, and all the easier if you have a lift. The shocks come with a few spacers for different models so you'll just use the ones they specify for the bike you have.
What's nice about using a lift is that you can raise your bike off the ground just enough to remove the stockers, then raise it a bit more to mount the top ends of your new shocks onto the top mounts and swing the bottom ends of the shocks down to the bottom mounts to check alignment. It's kind of tough without the lift 'cause there's no easy way to do one side at a time and check to see that your alignment is correct.
When I installed my 440s (without a lift) I was concerned whether or not they lined up properly, and I had no real way of knowing. When I removed them I had a lift at hand and was able to confirm that everything had been OK all along.
When you remove the stockers, remember to keep them upright. You don't want the oil to run out of 'em.
