Yes the problem is at idle but the cold hard starts are a bear as well. Would following some of these steps address the hard starts ?
On the 07's with PC111s (and maybe some other years) if you don't hit the start button almost immediately it will take several cranks to start. Try hitting the button immediately after turning on the ignition switch.
Also, if your motor turns over slower than normal your battery is about to take a dump.
When you clean the IAC be sure to cycle it with the on/off or ign. switch while spraying it with cleaner.

Thanks for the info, I usually wait for the light to go out before starting so maybe that's part of the problem, battery is strong. I'll cycle the ignition tonight when I clean the IAC.
Lately my SG is having some issues that I can't figure out. I've got 30K or so on a TC96, Stage 1 Ness Big Sucker, PCIII, Samson 2-2 exhaust, no motor work ie; gear cams installed.
Takes at least three cycles to turn it over on a cold start. Once started, it wants to stall and will if you let it even after a long ride. Oil pressure and amps are normal. Battery is fully charged and on a tender. WTF could be wrong with this thing? My Indie mech doesn't like messing with FI bikes and said I need a Cobra Fi2000 tuner and that will solve it. Not sure I want to spend $400 or more on a tuner without knowing what the exact problem is first.
Any input is appreciated. Absolute last resort is taking it to a dealer.
How about starting with something simple: fuel filter? Then try some injector cleaner in your next tank of gas. I tend to go with the simple stuff first, just to cover all the bases before going into the more expensive things that may not be necessary.
I have the same thing going on with my sons 06 Heritage except for the hard start issue. Doesn't want to idle....cold or hot. I tried cleaning the IAC with carb cleaner but it didn't seem to do any good. I did however notice that while the engine is running if I put my finger over the plunger hole and vary the amount of air allowed into the IAC port I could control the idle and the bike would stay running. I could feel the plunger moving up and down relative to how much I choked it off. Am I right in assuming that even though the plunger is moving up and down, it's not sealing off which is causing my idle issues?
The pc3 is a piggy back unit, just unplug it and reconnect the harness without it. I had a pc3 and I heard that people were having troubles with them if they get moisture in them. I was always careful to not spray it when washing the bike. I think the new power commanders are sealed much better now. Power commander has a forum and the people there are helpful with tuning troubles.
I cleaned IAC and filter. Tried a start and just kept turning then a caugh out the breather. Disconnected the PCIII and it started right up with just one caugh. It idled a little high for a few seconds then dropped to around 1000. I shut it down and restarted with no issues or caughing for three starts. I'll leave the PCIII off for now and see how it goes. Will there be any noticeable change in performance (other than the hard starts of course) that will be noticeable with it disconnected?
