Can someone answer whether this gets the rear wheel off the ground or not I'm interested as well but not if the wheel stays on the ground - Dah...???
zorro,
The EZ-UP center standdoes not get the rear wheel off the ground, but I use a small ¾” piece of plywood under the stand and the rear tire will just barley clear the ground, but it will turn by hand for cleaning/maintenance. It is very easy to use, requires minimal effort to set the bike up on the stand. When using a block under the stand the thicker it is the more it will hold the rear tire off the ground, but the thicker the block is the effort increases proportionally to the thickness of the block to set the bike up on the stand. I first tried a 2x12 piece of wood and it was difficult to set the bike up on the stand, a ¾” plywood block is just right if you only want to be able to turn the rear wheel.
Yes, the rear whell is lifted up just a bit - maybe 1/4 inch. I love it, it saves space in the garage, and the bike is really stable on the stand. I don't trust the jiffy stand. wouldn't have abike without a centre stand. This one is from eglide.
