Default ipod interface gone

Took bike into dealership today for a brake line upgrade. They called and said I needed a new battery, which I questioned, anyway, on the way back home I noticed that my Ipod interface was not showing up on my radio screen. Any thoughts as to why this might be happening? Battery was replaced so I'm thinking this may have something to do with the interface not working. I have the Iron Cross Ipod interface. Thanks for any help.

My guess is the interface is not getting power. It can be all hooked up but if it's not getting power it wont show up on the radio screen.

is the iPod plugged into the cable all the way? my HD interface needs an iPod plugged in before it will show on radio display. the HD iPod interface gets it's power from the radio not sure about the iron cross unit.
when battery was being changed, the HK head unit did a reset, should have recognized the interface.

OK, who did the install ??? You or the dealership ??? Do you know if the unit was powered by the radio hardness or did somebody run it to the battery ??? From what I read the dealership put in a new battery, maybe they missed the wire..... If its getting it power from in the batwing then I would first pull the main fuse for 20 seconds or so to reset the unit. If that doesn't work I would check the connections and any in line fuses. Last step, remove the unit and send back to Iron Cross for repairs. But because it was working just before the service, I think it's going to be a power connection problem

Good luck, let us know what you find, JIM

When they were doing the brake line install and had my fairing off I guess somehow the hot wire for the the Ipod interface got disconnected. Imagine that. Not a good experience at the dealership yesterday. They also called and said my battery was dead and that they could not do the ABS bleed and that I needed a new one. I questioned that because the bike is always on a trickle charger and there have been no issues prior to taking it out there yesterday. I could kick myself for not telling them to jump it off and I would deal with the battery "issue". Battery was only 3 yrs old.

"issue".

a duff battery can destroy your charging system- a $100 problem becomes a $600 problem.

so not always smart to "jump" a dead battery.

you could and should ask them to show you the print out from their battery test.

the battery probably cost you $175...most of us use batterymart for about $100 to your door.

Thanks for the tip on the jumping off. Yes, if it needed replacing I could have done it myself for a whole lot less
