Don't laugh. Its true... kind of. Some clocks that plug into the wall use the frequency of the AC current to regulate time. If the frequency is off from the standard 60 cycles, the clock will not keep time. BTW, power companies are now looking at varying AC cycles as a way of more efficiently managing the grid, which would then affect these kinds of clocks.

Great post. Very helpful. My clock keeps terrible time too, but when I am on my bike, the clock is the least useful accessory IMO. So, I don't worry about it much and after 3 years I still do not know how to set the time on the damn thing.
