I have seen some claim that the 97 - 13 Tour Pak backrest pad will fit all 97+ tour paks while others, and Harley, state the 14+ have a new pad.
Is there a difference between a '13 and '14 pad?
I've ordered a Tour Pak for my RK and am looking for a good deal on a pad while waiting on it to come in. Just don't want to buy the incorrect backrest.
I know the tour packs are different, so I would expect the pads to be different also.
The reason the web sites give bum dope is simple, pure laziness. Up until the 2014 model year the "fits 97 and up" was true statement. They just never bothered to update the info....
The 2014 King Tour-Pak has mounting differences and is shaped differently. While you could opt to drill new mounting holes to match, the shape change means it won't fit very nicely.
(As an aside, we don't bother developing new products when an existing one is going to be fine! We've got enough to do here! Check our website for our up-to-date fitment advice.)
