I have one on my 05 ultra and love it. I have several of the sd disks with different music. Very handy on long trips. I have the Hog tunes too and no problem at all hearing the musice at interstate speeds (after changing the switch in the mp3 player as others suggested here)
I have one on mine and I installed the hogtunes at the same time. I have a problem though and don't know really what to do. I use a 1gig and a 2 gig sd card nad both give the same problem. When I start the player it plays fine, sound is clear and plenty loud but after about 30 minutes it begins to breakup sort of like skipping. I used to use i-tunes and that was my entire library of mp3's so I called the manufacturer of the HD unit and the lady said I can't use i-tunes then I said what can I use and she said you just can't use I tunes. pretty crappy way to brush me off. I changed and done on my music in wma and it does the same thing. My problem is that I bought the unit new from an HD shop that is on the internet out of MN. I bought it in the winter, did not install until the spring plus I would have to remove the fairing and pull the unit to send back then put the fairing back on and doo it all again. I was thinking it may be in my speakers, I read somewhere that someone had something similar happen and he would have to let his Radio cool down awhile and he was running Hogtunes and something about the ohms that created the situation. I figured I am just going to have to live with it. I have the switch set in the player to the side that has the increased volume but it also stated that the switch must be in the other side for the best sound? I just wonder if any of you guys have experienced this? FDM
FULLDRAWMIKE,
I actually have had what you described happen to me whenI have usedmy MP3 player through a laptop. It works like this, if you record with the volume set to high at record time the playback will sound like crap depending on the playback volume level set. Something you can do to determine if this is the problem, when the sound quality starts going to the crapper turn the volume level down on the playback device and or MP3 playerif there is a level where the music sounds right you need to re-capture your music at a lower volume level. I don't know if this will work for you or not but it couldn't hurt to try it out. Also, heat will cause the same problem. If you have mis-matched speaker impedance or the wires backwards (on the left you have the + wire connected to the - pole and the opposite connected on the right) you cause an impedance mis-match which causes heat which causes the amp to either shut down or not work properly. This same thing will happen if you are using the incorrect ohm speakers (using 4 ohm when you should use 8 ohm etc).
Now you have my 2 cents and a few other things to checkout.
