Hi all, I'm thinking of installing 10 3/4 in rise handlebars on my 2013 ultra limited. Do I have enough cable and wire play so I don't have to get extensions? Thanks.

I just did the Paul Yaffe 12 inch mini apes on my bike. The original cables worked.

This just sounds like a headache I am gonna put off for awhile.

They even have extensions for 1990 dressers?

I strongly recommend against choosing bar height by whether new cables would be required.

Yep. i went with 10s on my former street glide and soon after went with 14s. Went right to 14s on my current ultra.

Thanks for all your input.

Keithhu, I agree with you. I have problems with my shoulders using anything higher than a 10" bar height.

I know it would be a headache to change and extend cable/wiring but that's the kind of thing I really enjoy. If I have to use the extensions, I'm sure I'll have a blast.

A salesman was trying to sell me a $300 TBW cable and it kinda pissed me off that I would have to spend even MORE money to get the comfort and look I want on my ride.

If 12" mini apes worked with the original cables, I hope my 10 3/4 KST Mayhem will be fine with my Ultra.

If there are any more opinions, please let me know. I haven't put them on yet and would rather do it right the first time then to have to suffer not riding this weekend.

I'm sure you're on the right path.

There are 2 threads or responses I see all the time - people wanting to avoid buying/installing cables (understandable to a certain degree), and people who have taller bars but wish they went taller. My observation is that the ration of people that regret not going taller to those who regret not going shorter is enourmous.

The other thing is that, regardless of length, the stock cables are ug lee

I live in Florida where to be legal, apes cannot be above seated shoulder height. I want to go shoulder height on my Street Glide and am considering 17" Paugho 1 1/4 apes. I do NOT want to do this twice. Anyone feel the 17's will be too high? I agree that I see very few threads complaining bars are too high. UPDATE - I leveled over from the top of my shoulder to the fairing and it looks like the level is 4" above the top of the fairing (w/o windshield). When I see pix of 14's on Glides, looks like they are at about this height. I also measured down from the level line to the highest point on the existing stock bars and got 8". If the existing bars are 6", I add 8" and get 14". I will probably order 14's. Just hope I am not one of those "wishing" later that I had ordered higher apes

Does anyone really get busted for apes? I see it as an excuse to pull over someone who is riding like a DB.
