Default HD Paint Question

I'm new to the HD World and just put an Arlen Ness fairing on my 2012 FLHR. I wanted to match the fairing with the same color paint on my bike but learned that HD doesn't sell stock paint. Then I heard a rumor that there is a dealership that does it under wraps. Can anyone point me in the right direction, or do I need to have a body shop do their best to color match it???

I'm surprised your dealer said they don't sell paint (unless your bike has something special). My dealer does, but I suspect they get it from colorrite too and charge extra.

Be warned the candy/flake colors are very difficult to match even with the exact paint.

I went to a reputable local painter when I had my entire SG repainted. All they needed is the HD color and code if possible and they matched it perfect. If I went with HD paint the cost would have been about 25% more. I don't see the need to use HD paint and pay out the nose for it.

I had a 2006 Night Train that had the Black Pearl paint and my local painter matched it perfect just using the VIN.. He mixes his own colors so that might have made the difference in matching.

Harley sells the paint. It's not cheap.

I bought a quart of Harley paint from the dealership about 10 years ago, not problem but the cost, back then about 175.00

Try another dealership if you want the can to say HD, otherwise go to a place that matches the paint.

Be Safe JIM
