Buy better quality shoes/boots! In all my years, I've never had any scuffs or scrapes from the shift peddle on my HD boots, and I couldn't count how many pairs I've been through.

I was able to learn new tricks when I got my road king, but some of the wider shift pegs that Harley sells may help you. http://search.harley-davidson.com/?q=shifter

Learn to use the heel shifter. It's just like walking and chewing gum for the first time....you'll catch on in no time at all.

You could try one of these.....they are all the rage in the sport bike world

http://www.rydewear.com/collections/shifter-skinz

Once you start using your heel shifter, you wont want to go on a bike without it. Adjust it properly, and you don't have to lift your heel to upshift.

The wife went from a Dyna to a Street Glide and hated her heel shifter. Would watch her beside me and try to convince her to use the heel peg.

She bought a pair of white Doc Martens and hated the black scuffs on her toe. Started using her heel shifter...now uses it all the time.

Try it....you'll like it!
