I just put them into my 03 egc because mama complained about the rinehart knockoffs (sound wise) that came with the bike, that she said were too rappy/clacky at speed. They were mellow enough for just low end cruising but when I wound it up she bitched about the sound and crackle. It took me about 20 minutes to install them and now I can almost sneak through town and out on the road they are really Harley sounding nice without the crackle. So, between the new super shox and the big city thunder baffles, I'm a happy camper because mama is a happy camper. I also picked up some more low end grunt but it doesn't seem to have hurt the top end either-- very pleased! --- engine is stock, other than a/f and the pipes.
is it louder now then with the stock rinehart baffles?
The pipes on the bike are no- name pipes that have the rinehart sound. They have no baffles per say. They are straight thrus with all the holes out next to the inner wall of the pipe itself. If it ever had removable baffles I don't know. My gut tells me no because they weren't all that loud (in my book) and I saw nothing in the pipes to suspect otherwise. Did gut the factory pipes on my wg and it lost a ton of torque and the sound was obnoxious. Put in the bct as a last resort (I like the stock pipe look of the wg) and bought these after reading of other successes. Awesome, and power and torque to spare, and the sound is as good as it gets to this old Harley fart's ears so I put some in the egc because mama didn't like it and they had worked so well in the wg.wonderful comes to mind. 75 on I-20 and I can actually hear George on the cd----- and didn't lose any pull at 75mph-- not too bad- not too bad at all---- and best of all Mama's Happy too
I have V&H dresser duals with CFR’s on a 2012. I had lost allot of torque and most back pressure, I installed the big city thunder QQ baffles and gained the torque and back pressure back, they also quietened the CFR’s down, I would say 10-15% reduction. The baffles did make them have a little deeper sound. I love the CFR’s without the baffles but on long rides the constant volume of the CFR’s was hard for us. They quietened down real nice at highway speeds which helped for the long rides.
