I just mounted a Avon Cobra in place of the stock Dunlop 407 on the rear of my Ultra. Took it off and put the wheel back on myself but had the tire mounted at my local dealer. 160 for the tire 40 to mount so 200 bucks out the door total. For me to buy a tire at the dealer and bring the bike down and have them do all the work was about 350 bucks plus tax for the rear alone. First impressions are pretty good. much smoother ride and cornering seems sticky. probably because i was told by the guys that mounted it said it was easy to mount and a softer compound. Ill definitely buy one for the front over the winter. Just for the record, i got 21k out of the back 407. Yeah. I pushed it but no cords showing and actually still some tread left in the center of the tire. The Avons are definitely an option

I put a set on my 02 wg and loved the way it handled but didn't like the fact that the rear was totally gone at 6500 miles, ( and I don't do burnouts or abuse the bike). The front did good tho-- got 17k out of it. It was the 90/90/21 rather than the 80/90/21.
I now have Avon Cobras on both my ultras. One is 2 up almost 90% of the time. Other lightened up and pounded on. I have 13,000 miles on the heavy ultra but tire pressure is key. DO NOT GO BY HD spec. Talk to a AVON rep. Tire pressures are much higher....
I was thinking maybe 6500-8000 miles and get new. But not the case Like I said still very good looking at 13,000. Check pressure 2 times a month with a known pressure guage that I also use for racing. Excellent ride( wife noticed after only 10 mins into ride) great in rain ...sleet...and cold or hot. Tar snakes all but gone now...I don't sell or have anything to do with Avon. The best part? Delivered to my shop 299. For front and rear tire
