The problem is after 6 operations on my left ankle they had to fuse it and I have lost alot of range of motion. I new Shifting was going to be a problem as I don't have enough motion to shift with out raising my whole leg.
Has anyone else had this problem and what have you done to help the problem?
I can shift but am looking for any help I can get.
P.S. We really like the new RKC it's the first Harley we have owned, after several Gold Wings[:'(]
When I picked up my Ultra, the heel shifter was raised up pretty high. When I went back by the dealer, they adjusted it down quite a bit and it still has room to shift. Try having them lower the heel part of the shifter as low as possible and you may not have to lift your leg very much.
If you have had a Goldwing in the past with floorboards... the heal\toe shifter adjusts the same... There are a few companies that do make a elect shifter the is univ and will fit most bikes (they use these also on drag bikes) ... Try a Search on the net for elect shifters motorcycle (A friend had one installed on his GW after he lost his left leg - but I can't remember the name of the company.. I think he paid close to $800.00 for it a few year ago - but still uses it today...
if this isnt the fix your looking for,,, try searching for companies that make air accuated shifters,
you use a button on your handle bar instead of your foot,,,,Ive seen adds in mag's
