just got my first Harley. 2010 electra glide with 15,000. miles. wanted a louder exhaust so I got a pair of factory slip on mufflers from a early 2000 electra glide and removed the baffles out of them and installed them on my bike to find out that it did not change anything ? are the baffles or insulation in the header pipes? we removed the baffles in my sons 2011 sportster 1200 and what a difference it made, super load. what can I do it to make mine loader with out spending a lot ? thanks
Questions is - did your year have the Cat in the mufflers??? and you say you already changed that.... did you start the bike with the muffler OFF - try it for a moment... that will tell you a LOT and most likely LOUDLY
If your warranty or ESP is gone - just spend the bucks and get a Full exh system... Rinehart true dual system is Great - any Good set up will be $$$$ but look and sound great..
I have a 15 and pretty much stuck with the Cats - some take them out and the Jury is still out on if HD will void or not void the warranty ???? for me, I will just leave them in.
The 2010 has the catalytic converter in the head pipe. That's why you haven't noticed any change in sound. Either gut the Cat or go to an aftermarket header if you want an increase in sound.
a stock header without cat will run you about $150 on ebay.
These are removed fairly easily, there are a number of threads on teh forums showing how-to remove the cat yourself
