Mine is a 2004, 04glideTC, right now I am just getting an idea and parts list started. Financially I cannot start buying parts just yet.
Let me know if you decide to sell your RK tank, I might be interested. I might be interested in other parts as well as I'm strongly considering turning my Eglide into an RK.
I'm in a similar situation and will be watching this thread like a hawk for progress.
Don't get me wrong, I love a LOT about my RK, but there are features on other HD bikes that I also desire greatly.
I love the low in the bike seating position and easy maneuverability I get on a Softtail deluxe
I love the detachable hard bags and windscreen as well as the front and rear crash bars on my RK. The rake and whitewalls on mine are also beautiful.
I also like the availability of all of the gauge status at a glance with the full fairing bikes.
Flipping through the items on the tank display one at a time with the handlebar control for info is a distraction. Built in radio and GPS would also be nice instead of my crappy jerry rig solutions currently in place.
My perfect bike doesn't exist. It'll also have to be built up out of what I have now.
This build wont be getting off the ground any time soon. I do want to go the full route of using a RG harness, tank, and gauges. And I am a bit of a technology junkie so I plan on using a double din stereo system as well.
you put it out there so here is my 2 cents. Your king is awesome. Its like asking leonardo davinci to paint over one of his other paintings.
How 'bout this, sell your king ( or keep if you have the cash) buy a road glide. In any case good uck.
