This is a very newbie question but then, I'm a very newbie (at least with HD's). I've had my FLHTC a total of 7 hrs and 103 miles.
I'd like to remove the heel shifter. I looks like all I need to do is loosen the one bolt and slide it off the spline. Is that it? Do I need to relocate the toe shifter to the end of the spline or can I leave it where it is?
THAT's IT!
Would recommend installing a cap on the end as not only looks better but will help in keeping the ft shifter in place... check the hd web pag they list one there and it's not that much $$$
I'd recommend adjusting the heel shifter down a little and trying it for a little longer. I absolutely hated mine the first 2 weeks I had the bike, until I read on here about adjusting them. I adjusted it down where I don't have to pick my heel up as high, and I love it now.
This is funny. I just got back from a ride not more than a half hour ago and made up my mind to take my heel shifter off also. Walked in the door, grabbed the parts book and found the chrome end cap. It's part number 35471-05 and is listed at $12.95. I thought I'd get used to it, but I really don't like it, so off it goes.
