Understand your opinion, however these things only cost $59 while the better looking Harley stuff costs Thou$ands.

For people that only occasionally need a trunk, this can be a great option.

Get a complete tour pak for 1/2 the price of just a sissy bar.

Heck this might be perfect for someone like myself....I just want a tour pack for vacations with wife , but definitely not for full time use. For 50 or so dollars its definitely worth a shot.

Fairing Factory makes some decent ones and they have a price war going on, on Ebay.

I know this is a little off topic but has anyone heard of or seen the swinebox? I really like the look but they are pricey when you factor in paint. I think that's what I'm leaning towards.

What makes the Mutazu so appealing is that for $60 you not only get the trunk, but also the top rack, both back rest pads, 2 restraining wires, lock and key.

You still need to buy the 4 point and mounting rack, but...still less than just a Harley top rack.

You can use it for a couple trips, and throw it away if you decide you want a better one.

This is a Givi 50L trunk on my Road King. It detaches from the detachable rack or I can take the whole thing off. I don't give a damn how it looks, I just wanna carry my stuff. Between CL and Ebay I got about 200 bucks in it. The "windshield bag" is a thrift store portable Walkman CD player case

I've had both styles of Mutazu tour packs...the smaller one like the one in the OP's post and the Harley knock off. Both were very good deals and I put tens of thousands of miles on both of 'em. Never took them off the bike.

The lock on the smaller one was pretty cheesy on mine. (Bought it 7-8 years ago, so maybe they upgraded it by now.) It came apart fairly soon after purchasing it. I didn't bother with having them send a replacement. Instead, I went to the local hardware store and bought a locking hasp. With just a couple minor tweaks I installed it with ease. (See photo of hasp below.) It cost me less than $10.00 USD.

The larger Harley knock off is better than the smaller one if ya ask me. A little more sturdy, though not quite "Harley" sturdy. One day I opened the Harley knock off and the bolt holding the wire that keeps the lid from flopping clear over came loose and the lid...well, it flopped clear over. My immediate fear was that it broke the lid or the bottom, but all it did was bend the hinges. I forced it shut for the rest of the trip. Got home and bought new "oh-fishul" HD premium hinges and locks. Again, they required a very small amount of engineering to make them fit, but it worked out fine.

Considering the relatively meager cost of either item, I was very satisfied with both. I'd buy 'em again.

I have that exact one you listed, I had the same mindset, and pulled the trigger, I already had the quick disconnect luggage rack, I just mounted it on top of it. I only wanted this tour pack because my wife wanted a bigger backrest and this was BY FAR the cheapest way of accomplishing that. Yes the HD ones and that 180 dollar Matzua one looks good too, but its only on there when SHE is on there and that is not often. It actually turned out pretty good I must say for a TOTAL investment of about 120 bucks for the trunk and the paint...I DO have the chrome top rack, but opted to not install it. I then spent about 5 bucks on a nice silver "Harley Davidson" script decal to go across the back of the pack to finish it off. Does it look as good as the more expensive ones? No...but does it look bad considering the price? Heck NO. If you have a black bike, you won't HAVE to paint it, however the finish is very poor...its black and glossy, but at 50 bucks you can't expect too much, the little pack has definitely exceeded my expectations SO FAR, ask me again after I put a couple thousand miles on it.

I am looking for a similar one for when my wife rides with me. Does a full size helmet fit in the pak?

How does the backrest on this compare to a standard Harley quick detach back rest pad?

Thanks in advance!
