Just got back from the Outer Banks and noticed a crack in the right pipe where it bolts to the transmission. The bike is a 2000 EG standard that has true duals installed by the previous owner. I've installed V/H Monster Ovals. I know I can just have the pipe welded at the mounting tab, but the current heat shields don't cover the entire head pipes and I don't care for the look with the gaps.
I saw some Cobra true dual header pipes for $314 and Vance and Hines pipes for a little more at $373 on eBay. Anyone have experience with either of these? They both have the full length heat shields I'm looking for.
No info on true duals, you could search forvused pipes if you think they might crack again. A guy we sometimes ride with had the same problem on his 2001. He found a mint used supertrapp 2-1 on another forum.
Frank I've installed a couple sets of the Cobras. Chroming is excellent and the headers fit like a glove. I've recommended them to a few folks on here and they liked them as well. Yes they are cheaper, but as well made as anything out there.
I have the cobra's on my 07 FLHX. looks and sounds good, however the fitment was not great. I had to trim the heat shield on the rear pipe as it came in contact with the frame and caused vibration. Once trimmed, you couldn't even notice and in looked good. No experience with the V&H.

2010 Limited with some stuff
Im one of those people, I too had vibration issues but didn't have to cut anything.. The rear pipe does come really close to the frame but once I rode it a bid and re torqued everything and the gaskets set some all is well not a peep now

Thanks guys for the replies, that's the info I was looking for. Just wanted to check the fit and finish and see how they hold up after some miles. Sounds like I can't go wrong with either brand. Gonna stay with the true dual look for now, and may give the Cobras a go. Couldn't find that V/H deal for $200.
