Need help..does anyone know if you could use the screamin eagle 254e cams in a 88" motor? Doing a 95" big bore kit in my 01 road king. Have the obvious stuff like the pistons, jugs, cylinders, gaskets, new pushrods, cam bearings etc. What else should be replaced? The bike has 45k miles, new lifters?

Upgrade the camp plate and oil pump so you can forget about the tensioners for a long time. Did you get new pushrods tubes for those pushrods, as the old ones won't work? Get the upgraded lifters. I don't know about the cams. Do you have the proper special tools for the cam brgs?

Doing the lifters aka Tappets is very important, definitely don't leave that off the list.
Put the hybrid cam plate in my 95" engine and what a difference the extra oil pressure makes with the lifters, plus the ease of mind about the cam chain shoes lasting a little longer. I had the 204 cams installed with the kit. More bottom end torque and tons of fun. I would replace the lifters, may want to consider newer oil breathers in the top end.
Cam choice largely boils down to your intended use. Using myself and my own riding style as an example, I ride 90% one up and usually don't exceed 4500 rpm except for maybe running through the gears. Around town I keep my rpm at 2K or better regardless of speed. At freeway speeds with my 5 speed I'm right at 3K at 70mph. All that combined equals choosing a cam that makes good torque down low. Running a high lift, long duration cam under those conditions would be a poor choice. As it is, and I'm not specifically suggesting it's use, I run an Andrews 21N aka mouse cam. The N designation is for use with the later model hydraulic cam change tensioners and camplate, making it a bolt in installation. It pulls like a tractor 2 up and loaded, and it comes on right off idle. It just keeps pulling, pulling pulling. They also make the 26, which comes on 4-500 rpm later which Andrews recommends for a 95" build, but the 21 has been a great success with a 95" build as well. Here's some info on the Joe Minton 95 build: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...w.hdforums.com

I would stay away from that cam personally I just went through this myself and started with a fueling reaper 543 cam
supposably a bolt in cam (Be careful when they say Bolt In) I ripped it out and went with An Andrews 37 and that cam with a 95 kit is awsome
If your staying at 88 check these out
Andrews 21 26 or Crane 300 I almost went with the crane 300 as it looks good spec wise
Try to do it right the first time
Personally if I had to do it over i would have done heads and gone to a 98
Spend the more money up front and get it done right first so you dont have to revisit it
Holy cow so many responses...after reading I thought this was another thread haha, talk away boys. Just found out that the 254 cams won't fit in the 88". Which upgraded lifters should I pick up?
S&S standard lifters- $115. I put the 37s in my stock 88" for a year knowing I'd be going big. A little soft down low in an 88", but after the BB kit, it rips! Andrews 48 is another good choice for what you're doing. Where are you sourcing your kit from?
