Fitment question
Have a 1985 flthc with a bad fairing. Would like see about updating it to a newer style fairing. I know the newer fairing so bolt up different. My big concern is will the brackets that tie the fairing to the legs work on my 85

the fairing 1996 to 2013 is the next step, but you'll run into issues with the instruments- which are all electronic.
your cable drive speedo was phased out.
just how bad is your fairing?
most of the guys here have late models- there is an evo forum full of smart guys:

as I recall the 85 uses a pod for the instruments and the faring is a shell- your could replace the fairing shell with a memphis shades or other fairing made for road kings- hogzilla etc, there are a bunch of them
