Since I work till 4 am I won't ride to work if it's supposed to be below 36F. Don't want to hit that black ice.
During the weekends I'll ride as long as there is no snow or ice. Heated gear is the ticket.
For Oregon that means I don't put the bike away for winter.
Cold doesn't stop me but Ice/Snow will. Living in the high desert of Las Vegas we do see cold temps but luckily not the ice or snow. So I just go the other way.
I have done down into the 20's just to get some time in the saddle.
But the ride is generally about 20-30 miles only.
I prefer anything above freezing.
I have ridden down to about 12 as long as no ice. Was on a ride this weekend up in the AZ mountains and it was down to 42 with snow on the sides of the road.
65° is when I notice there's only a couple of us out there. Only one other rider out yesterday & he was geared up like me. Don't see any none helmet riders out below 55°. My dad asked if I was going to Alaska, said ain't no fun riding if your cold. He's been there on a Harley but it was summer of course.
