Default Problems with WO577 and mirrors

Hey guys. I've seen a few bikes with Chubby WO577 and I currently run the WO575 because I want to use my fairing mirrors. I've read here where others went with the 577's just so they could keep the mirrors. I am curious if you guys with those have any handling problems or if the wind is any factor in the winter? I ride a lot and ride aggressively so handling is a priority. I like having hands covered in the winter. I didnt know if my KW 6.5 flare windshield would keep the wind off.

Many Thanks.

I've run 577's on three different batwings (that's how much I've liked them) but never used the stock (SG) mirrors. Always ness mini ovals for whatever reason.

With basic winter gloves, I've never had any problem with the cold. You do get a little more wind on your hands, but the fairing still blocks a bunch and keeps you warmer than riding totally open like on a road king.

Handling takes some getting used to... Still handles fine.

Have been thinking here lately about going to 578s for a change.

Gotcha. I thought about the 578s too but I've heard you can definitely kiss your mirrors goodbye with those.
577s look like the ticket.
Thanks for the replies.

Here's my WO577's. I love them. I added the handguards for the colder winter riding (Ohio), and Heat Demons grip heaters. I was just in NC all last week. Rode out to Wheels Through Time. Tried to ride as much of the Blue Ridge as I could. Weather wasn't very cooperative.

HandGuards were from JDs Customs

Edit: I use mirrors mounted under the controls not fairing mounted FWIW. As far as handling, it's like adding power steering.

Very nice bike. I thought those hills looked familiar. Buddy and myself rode up to the start of the Blue ridge in VA and rode the whole thing this past spring. Better weather but we still got rained on 2 days in a row. We ended up at Wheels through time too. Then blasted all night back to the coastline home. Great trip!

As far as power steering...you think it helps with the sweeps? How about parking lots. BTW I'm 5'8" / 30" inseam with a badlander 1.5" scooped/lowered seat. Just dont want to be reaching outa my seat the whole time.

Thanks.

I set my bars about 3/4" back from Wild Ones suggested pullback. I have no trouble in sweepers. I was running down 19 through West Virginia doing 80-85 and no problems. I can turn the bike around in about 2 parking spaces width, never put a foot down. Of course there's a little learning curve. I'm 6' with a 34" inseam. I'm running a Harley Hammock seat and 944 shocks (sit's like a 12in). You may have to play with the pullback to get it setup right for you. I've rode bikes with 14" apes pushed all the way forward almost touching the fairing. Then I was reaching, and had trouble with slow speed maneuvers. YMMV. Biggest improvement was the lack of pain in my upper back after long rides. I can go all day with these bars.

Thanks for the compliment on the bike.

I rode out last Monday. Hit New River Gorge sunny 70's. Tuesday ran from Fayetteville, WV to Fancy Gap, VA. Jumped on the Parkway to Boone, NC Fog and rain. Wednesday, rode to my friend's dad's place in Lincolnton, NC spent the day with him, rain. Thursday rode to Maggie Valley, toured the museum, then stayed in Asheville, rain. Friday left Ashville headed North/East out of the rain and into sunshine, back onto the parkway by Boone, and back to Fancy Gap then up to Wytheville VA. Saturday rode through rain till North of Beckley, WV. Got back home early Saturday evening. Had a blast, went alone. I'm gonna do it again in the summer so I can get to Deals Gap and the tail. Maybe Skyline too.

Yea I was thinking that I may have to play with them to get the reach right. At least with the 577 there is wiggle room. I also thought about the 578s. With my height and seat drop they may work better for me, but I've heard you lose your fairing mirrors. I just put PM mirrors on (And they are 100 times better than the factory mirrors - lots of adjustment and wider viewing angle).
The blue ridge is a fun ride. Next time you come out look for 221 and 276. Those roads are amazing. Not like Devils Whip (80) but quick switch backs that you can actually get out of 2nd. I have yet to do the Whip but maybe the summer.
Thanks for the info!

I'm 5'-10 and have a LePera seat which brings me down a little and back 1.5 inches. The 12.5 Chubbies are perfect pulled back to the max.
The factory mirrors had to go...but I knew that already. Installed the HD windshield mirrors and all is worth it.
