Default General Tire Question

Mechanic installed the new front tire backwards on my 2007 Ultra. Some of you maybe aware the brake discs up front are handed and labeled backwards (by some folks opinions). Anyway, the question is, does it hurt anything to run the wheel backward? The tire is rotating the proper way, but the discs have the slots running backward (the valve stem is on the left side instead of the right side).

I am not a metallurgist, but I can't see how that would be good for the brake rotors.

Don't get distracted by the brakes thing, there's a good chap, your tyre is the wrong way round, so get the twit to refit it for you. Many vehicles have directional tyres these days, including us, and that is a fundamental error on his part. Let us know when it's done, so we can all sleep easy on your behalf!

I'd get it redone. Besides, your brake pads have already 'seated' itself to the rotors. They'll need to 'reseat' to the 'new-to-the pads' rotors.

Smack the s**t out of him. Just kidding, have him change it and don't go there again.

The fact that he put the rim on backwards to compensate for his mounting error shows me he was trying to put one over on you. To me, that is far worse than admitting his mistake and re-doing it. I would definitely take it back and demand he fix it, then I would not use the guy again because of his dishonesty!

I would go back to him and make him change it....

His screw up, his fix.

Then find a mechanic... because the one you have, frankly, isn't. You pay someone to NOT make this kind of simple error.
