You can buy a very nice bike for $15,000. I just sold a 2012 Ultra Limited last week for $15,500. It had a chrome front end, Dresser Duals, Monster Ovals and a Thunder Max tuner. It had 11,600 mile on it and a few more extras.
Good Luck
I traded my softail for an 09 Electra Glide - Ember Red Sunglo....21,300miles on it.
I did not need all the bells and whistles of an Ultra so I found a nice low mileage EG at my favorite dealer. They made me a terrific deal on it and I took it home the next day. I've put a thousand miles on it since October 15.
That was enough miles to know that I really like this bike.
I did put an extended warranty on it from the dealer - 2 years $1400 or so.
That is one of the advantages of buying from a dealer.
As mentioned the 09 and up have the 180 tire on rear and the new
frame. It handles way better than my softail did and rides like a dream.
Do some research - Trade in value on my 09 was $9500 - they were asking
$12,500 I got it for $11,000 they made money and I was happy with the deal.
